Black History Month

October is recognised across the UK as Black History Month, and schools across the country choose to take this opportunity to learn, challenge and honour the past. I am offering a selection of workshops for Black History Month this year:

Anansi the Story Keeper (EYFS and KS1) Children will learn about Anansi the Spider Man, and his trickster ways! Celebrating stories from different cultures, children will bring Anansi to life, and see for themselves how he became the keeper of all stories

Amazing Grace, by Mary Hoffman (EYFS and KS1) A celebration of identity and determination, this story teaches children that no matter what they look like, they can be anything they want!

Black Heroes (KS1 and KS2) This workshop explores what it means to be a hero, and offers children the chance to learn about the deeds and lives of extraordinary black men and women

The Empire Windrush (KS1 and KS2) is a chance to learn about the passengers who travelled from Jamaica on the Empire Windrush. Children will discover why they chose to make the journey, what it might have been like for the passengers, and the challenges that they faced in creating a new life for themselves in England

The children really enjoyed your workshop, and the pace was perfect for them! They have been talking about the Victorian seaside all day!
