PSHE can be a challenge for any school, but I have developed a selection of PSHE workshops designed to promote knowledge, empathy and understanding around a variety of topics. Children learn by doing, and by discussing issues relevant to their world, my workshops allow them to discover in a supportive environment, growing in confidence and self belief.
I am offering a selection of PSHE workshops this year:
All About Me (EYFS) this workshop uses games, music and movement to teach children all about themselves, their bodies, and all of the wonderful things that they can do!
Healthy Body, Healthy Me (EYFS and KS1) this workshop explores what it means to be healthy, and the choices that we can make to take care of ourselves – on the inside and the outside!
My Monster and Me, by Nadiya Hussain (EYFS and KS1) Have you ever been followed around by a Worry Monster? We all meet these monsters from time to time, but this workshop allows children to explore what it means to worry, and to consider how best to deal with these feelings
Giraffe is Left Out, by Sue Graves (EYFS and KS1) when Leopard joins Jungle School, Giraffe does not want to try to be his friend. But when Giraffe’s choices mean he is left out of a party, he begins to understand why including others is so important. By bringing the animals of jungle school to life, this workshop celebrates the fact that even though we are all different, we are all special!
Troll Stinks, by Jeanne Willis (EYFS and KS1) When Billy and Cyril find a phone, they decide to send some nasty messages to the stinky troll who lives under the bridge. But is this the right choice? This workshop explores the choices that we make online, and highlights the impact that our words and actions can have – even if we cannot see the person that we are speaking to.
Healthy Mind, Healthy Me (KS2) By KS2, many children understand the different ways in which we can keep our bodies healthy. Our mental health however, can be much harder to understand. This workshop explores how we can identify and cope with different feelings, and discusses the different ways that we can keep our minds as healthy as possible. All topics are dealt with sensitively, and we work in a safe and supportive environment where all opinions are respected.
Beat Bullying (KS2) This workshop explores how we can identify bullying, and the different ways in which bullying can present itself. Children will use role play, hot seating and other drama techniques to put themselves in the shoes of a victim, a bully, and even a bystander. They will be encouraged to empathise with different points of view, and identify positive responses to difficult situations
E-Safety (KS2) This workshop uses games and role play to investigate the day-to-day tasks that we all perform online, and highlights the risks involved when we do not protect ourselves. We will explore safe practice and the importance of protecting yourself online, as well as discussing the impact that our online words and actions can have on others.
